Dear Ben,

Both personally and on behalf of my colleagues on the European Bridge League Executive
Committee, I wish to offer our deepest sympathies on Max’s passing.
Max was ever present at all our Championships until his retirement a few years ago and
became not just a colleague but a friend to all of us who work in bridge. After leaving his
active involvement in Championships, Max continued to act as an expert commentator
whose opinion was sought and valued by all involved in rules, regulations and tournament
direction.
The news of his sudden death has left a feeling of shock and disbelief with those of us who
had been in constant and indeed very recent contact with him.
Please pass on our condolences to the wider family, and assure them that Max will be
remembered fondly by all who knew him.
