Dear Ben
Am so saddened to hear the news. I first met Max in 1995 when I started to work at EBU. I lived just round the corner from his house then and we would often meet up at the Horse and Jockey a habit that lasted until about three years ago when I moved away.
Laterly he was amused that I had become a season ticket holder at Wolves (in order to take the grandboys) and would often message me comments about a match. He asked me to send commiserations to my grandsons when Watford beat Wolves in the semi final last year.  He was less pleased when they beat ManU last season (twice!) I was getting red faced emojis at Moleneux from half time.
I enjoyed his late night selections of music on YouTube. Always a treat. His last post to me on Facebook was a worried-face emoji on hearing about the floods in Shrewsbury, where I now reside.
You’ll notice that bridge doesn’t feature much in these memories. Friendship is much more important and I will miss that.
